For as long as I can remember I have had an obsession with the richest people of this world and I would always save up my money each year to buy the Forbes edition which featured that list of the wealthiest people on the planet. The figures which some of the world’s biggest businesses and individuals can amass is absolutely astonishing and it blows me away today, just as much as it did when I was a kid. I was chatting to my friend Steve Sorensen net worth aficionado like me, recently about which were the wealthiest companies in the US and to be honest I was unsure so I did a bit of research and here are the top richest companies in the USA.


Walmart, $480.1 Billion

Walmart is an absolute monster of a retail chain and the family owned business has pretty much achieved world domination in terms of providing the best value for money super market across the globe. Started by Sam Walton in his home of Arkansas, the majority of the revenue from Walmart does actually come from US based stores. Throughout the years Walmart has bought and overtaken many of the biggest grocery stores in a wide variety countries and that is how it has managed to amass such a huge fortune.

ExxonMobil $268.9 Billion

This sis the largest oil company in the United States and for that reason it has posted revenue of such eye-watering amounts. Only second to Walmart in terms of being the largest publicly held corporation based on revenue, ExxonMobil has 37 refineries in 21 countries around the world and produces around 6.3 million barrels of oil each day which also makes it the largest oil refiner in the world.

Apple 215.6 Billion

As well as being 3rd on the list of largest companies by revenue, Apple is also the most cash rich business in the US and it actually sits on more cash than the US government. The popularity of apple has gone crazy in the last 15 years thanks to its iPhone, iPad, iPod and its Macbook lines and with each new product, the company stock, and its profits rise again and again. The company is not prepared to stop however and are currently undergoing a worldwide expansion of their Apple Stores as they seek to reach more customers.

Berkshire Hathaway $210.8 Billion

Warren Buffett is pretty much the poster boy for the American dream and his ‘umbrella’ company boasts the fourth biggest amount of revenue in the United States. The company covers pretty much ever type of industry and product from insurance, energy, manufacturing, retailing and service and they control a large amount of the nations biggest companies from GEICO to Dairy Queen. The company not only owns a large amount of smaller companies it also has minority shares in some of the world’s biggest companies such as Coca Cola and Restaurant Brands International .
